We are a trail blazing family! We have been traveling the world on an open ended tour of discovery since 2006.
We do responsible travel and travel slowly primarily by small motorhome. Our time in the Sahara desert in Morocco and in Turkey were highlights. My 6yo rode on a camel to do a violin concert in the Sahara for 60 Berber kids!

We have been to 15 countries so far and will add another 15 this year including Russia, before shipping our RV to Africa soon.
We do a lot of biking, hiking and use mass transit, so actually have low mileage on our vehicle despite all our travel. We find an RV is an ideal mode for families and were inspired by a French family that traveled the world via RV for 4 years for just 1500 euros a month.
We combine 7 months of travel and 5 months renting in a small authentic village where we immerse deep in the culture and can walk to all that we need.
We find that we can travel around the world and have the time of our lives much cheaper than living at home. We have learned much about budget family travel, mobile living, homeschooling at a distance and local schools.
This year we will be taking disadvantage kids from a school in NYC with us virtually!
We're a trail blazing family as well!! We spent a year in 2006-07 riding our bikes 9300 miles around the USA and Mexico - it was a fabulous experience for all four of us.
Now we are getting ready to do it again - in two weeks we will take off to pedal from Alaska to Argentina. We expect to be on the road for about 2 1/2 years - we'll "Roadschool" the boys for fifth, sixth, and seventh grades.
